Guidelines

  • All applications should be sent to ec2013@youngandcerebral.com latest 12:00 midnight, 21/10/2013
  • Submit with the applicant’s full detail (Full Names, Age, Gender, Email Addresses, Phone Contact, School/Institution, State of Residence).
  • The competition is open citizens of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  • All candidates must be legal residents of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
  • The candidate must be aged between 15-35 years
  • The essay must be typed in Microsoft Word
  • The essay submitted must not be more than five hundred and thirty words (530 Words). Failure to comply with this shall lead to automatic disqualification.
  • All entries must be written in the English language.
  • The candidate must only apply based on one topic that should be submitted electronically
  • Multiple applications will be disqualified.
  • The candidate’s bio-data shall be used by Young & Cerebral for publicity purposes.
  • The top six shortlisted candidates for the total categories shall be invited for an interview and then the top three shall be awarded the prizes.
  • Plagiarism will not be permitted. All entries must be properly referenced.
  • Note that information from the following websites is not allowed as forms of reference for this competition: Wikipedia or any wiki links site. Your research must reflect appropriate and relevant reviewed journals and legitimate websites.
  • Only Successful candidates shall be contacted.
  • The Young & Cerebral Essay Competition 2013 will use a percent system that will be applied to simplify the writing competition and to make judging more objective, and more easily understood. The following seven criteria will be applied:
    1. Creativity/Critical thinking
    2. Reference
    3. Structure/Organization
    4. Adherence to topic
    5. Grammar
    6. Length
    7. “Wow!” factor
