Entries are hereby invited from interested persons for the Challenge Future 2013 essay competition.

Challenge Future


For EACH of the topics, the prizes would be as follows:

  • The Winning team will receive EUR 3.000 Prize for idea development.
  • Two scholarships for C:F Summit 2013
  • Two scholarships for IEDC Young Managers Program
  • Each team will receive two C:F Scholarships for C:F Summit 2013
  • Scholarship for IEDC Discovery Management Program


18, February, 2013 (team formation) and 27 February, 2013 (final submission)


  • To create or join a team, please make sure you have your Gender, Birth date and Country info filled in.
  • You can compete in one or all three competitions below. You can create a team in each competition. To start, pick one and create a team!
  • You can register, form a team anytime before February 18th 14:00 CET and submit your solution until February 27th 2013 14:00 CET.
  • Check out more info about eligibility, selection criteria, how it works and timeline.
  • All teams that will receive the total score of 60 and higher (out of 100 points possible) by the grades from expert judges and top 10 by community votes, will advance to the Semi-Finals (2nd Round) with no limit as to how many teams can proceed.
  • We will announce the semi-finalists on March 20, 2013.
  • In this stage you will be asked to develop, test and make the first steps towards implementation.
  • The Challenge:Future Competition 2013 is free and open to all participants and teams that are in compliance with the specific rules.
  • The competition organizers reserve the right to disqualify any team or individual team members that violate the rules and regulations.
  • Eligibility is subject to individual review. Competition void where prohibited by law.
  • Teams may consist of 1 to 3 members per team.
  • The competition is open to an unlimited number of teams per university, school or youth organization.
  • Team members do not have to be affiliated with the same institution or country.
  • Each team can have only one mentor.
  • Having a mentor is advised but not compulsory.
  • For awards or benefits, the team creator will have priority, if not otherwise stated in competition guidelines or Awards section.
  • Only born after February 18, 1982 and before February 18, 1995 are eligible to compete.
  • Proof of ID (for all team members) will be requested of all Finalists.
  • Each individual member can compete only in one team for each of the three competitions.
  • Full-time or part-time faculty members (professors, lecturers, teaching assistants, researchers, and alike) of any accredited university, college or other higher educational institution as well as business experts are eligible to become mentors.
  • If you have a mentor request, please contact Helpdesk
  • A mentor can work with more than one competing team.
  • A mentor cannot switch teams during the competition.
  • A mentor cannot be a judge at the same time.
  • The timeline for the essay competition is:
    #Feb 18, 2013: Team Creation
    #Feb 18-27, 2013: Submit
    #Mar 01 – Mar 13, 2013: VOTE!
    #Mar 20, 2013: Semi-Finalists announced
  • The second round / semi-finals is as follows:
    #Apr 3 – Apr 24, 2013: Submit
    #Apr 26 – May 13, 2013: VOTE!
    #May 20, 2013: Finalists announced
  • The finals is as follows:
    #Sep 19 – 26 C:F SUMMIT 2013
    #Sep 25 – Finalists Presentations
    #Sep 26 – Winner Announced

• engage your C:F Chapter
• involve your faculty or school
• motivate your local community
• collaborate with the whole C:F community (yes, we would like to see that and we promise that we will all participate as well!).
