  1. Why do grown-ups read fairy tales?
  1. In the future, will children still use pencils?
  2. “Imagination is more important than knowledge. Knowledge is limited. Imagination encircles the world” by Albert Einstein. Do you agree?  Why?

Youth Prize: for those born between 1995 and 1998

  1. Myths, legends and fantasies: why do we read them, why do we watch them?
  2. “To be or not to be…” Is that what school is about?
  3. “Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” Attributed to WB Yeats. Do you agree? Why?

Adult Prize: for those born before 1995

  1. If there was one thing you could change to improve education in your country, what would it be and why?

Guidelines

  • Each entry must be between 500 to 1,500 words
  • It doesn’t matter if English is not your first language: we look at your ideas.
  • Once your article is ready, complete the submission form (download the form as a PDF or as a Word document) and send both the article and the form to our Editor at editor@nuhafoundation.org
  • The Editor will read every article you send, which may then be published on the NUHA blog until 20 October.
  • Tell your family and friends to vote for your article, by commenting on it and liking it on Facebook. The voting closes on Saturday 16 November.
  • Spread the word around you: the more people participate, the more fun it is all-round!
  • On 19 November, the Editor will announce the 3 shortlisted articles: these will be the articles that received the most votes (comments and Facebook likes), the articles that were most debated (substantive comments) and the articles that did not get much public attention but that deserve to be shortlisted for their quality.
  • The Editor will also introduce the Jury, who will focus on the quality of your argument and the originality of your ideas (and not the level of your language).
  • On 9 December, we will announce the winner!
