How To Self-Publish Your Book, Sell It Worldwide And Make Money On CreateSpace

How To Self-Publish Your Book, Sell It Worldwide And Make Money On CreateSpace

It is true.

The ultimate dream of every writer is … well, to get  published.

I’ve experienced it many times. I’ve said it before. And I mean it every bit. That…

Books are magical creatures. They change our lives, when we read them. They refine our thoughts, when we write them. They spread our ideas, when we publish them.

But the problem really is, how do you publish yours?

First, the odds are too harsh on you as a newbie author: no publisher is prepared to invest in your manuscript and no literary agent is willing to link you up.

Again, when you attempt to self-publish your book all by yourself, you soon realize the needed capital and distribution network aren’t assets you have.

Early in 2013, my first published book – an anthology of poems – was self-published through a neighbourhood printer. Even though the book made a great read (no bragging!), it was published on debt and it didn’t sell well.

Why? Because I didn’t have a strong distribution network. I know a couple of friends who have threaded this path too and tasted failure.

But today, the process has got a lot easier, thanks to CreateSpace.

CreateSpace is owned by Amazon. It’s a free-to-join platform which empowers you to self-publish and sell your book to anywhere in the world in both hard copy and soft copy and pays you high royalties.

You get to:

  • Use CreateSpace’s free tools to build and publish your book;
  • Keep the copyright to your book
  • Have your work published and available in just a few days,
  • Reach readers worldwide through your free CreateSpace e-store, Amazon.com and Amazon’s European websites.
  • Sell your book as both print and ebook.
  • Earn industry-leading royalties.

I should be 100% transparent with you by stating that I’ve never published on CreateSpace (of course I hope to, soon).

But from all the reviews of CreateSpace I read online, I believe it’s an excellent service. Popular Nigerian writer and author, Myne Whitman, published her book, A Love Rekindled, via CreateSpace and she’s said nice things about it.

I advise that you give it a trial and see things for yourself.

Now how do you go about it?

Warning: If you’re reading this on a mobile device, I recommend you go re-open this page on a laptop or desktop computer before you proceed with the steps below.

Step #1: Go to CreateSpace

Step #2: Fill in your details and click “Create My Account”

God bless you. I have been seeking insight into this. I read how they calculate the percentage they take for their services before I get my royalties but I don’t understand. Would you be able to explain it? Thank you.

  7. You are doing a good work, keep it up. You gave me the best even when I paid so little. I encourage you to keep it up.

  9. I don’t think there is an admirable quality a leader should possess that you do not possess, Abdullahi – TRUSTWORTHINESS! I could take the hint from the newsletters I’d received and read from you, even though I’ve not started the PenMoney Masterclass course per se due to some reasons. You’re revered! More power to your elbow!

  10. ALIYU BALA SHEHU says:

  12. How do you cash their cheque, as I have never cashed a foreign cheque before.

  13. Thanks, Abdullahi. You are doing a great job in helping fellow Nigerians to be aware of how they can earn online. More grease to your elbow. Keep it up.
